Survey: Databases for Target Trial Emulations
The EU-RESPONSE consortium is conducting a survey, endorsed by CoMeCT, to identify high-quality databases of hospitalized respiratory infectious disease patients. This survey project aims to strengthen global pandemic preparedness by creating a comprehensive overview of databases suitable for target trial emulations.
While randomized controlled trials remain the gold standard for treatment evaluation, the urgent nature of pandemics often necessitates complementary evidence from observational research. Target trial emulation has emerged as a robust methodology to strengthen the analysis of observational studies, but its success depends critically on access to high-quality data.
To advance this work, EU-RESPONSE is reaching out to database custodians and researchers across the field. Through a focused survey, the consortium is gathering crucial information about database characteristics, accessibility, and potential for rapid deployment during health emergencies.
